If I were livin' in a mansion, I'd probably sleep out on the deck.

The countdown began before it was started. I told Kyle at week two of this semester that "we only have 15 weeks left!" in which he rolled his eyes at my attempt at optimism. Now there are 4.5 weeks left, and I am exhausted. I am tired of being tired. I came to realization years ago that I am horrible at any classes that are not literature or writing, well that really seems to be proven this semester. I thought a news writing course would be good for me because hello, writing, I am pretty decent at that when I pay attention to what I am doing, but no. Apparently journalism is out of the question for my future unless it is soft news, aka features. I can't write a hard news lead to save my life, and apparently my titles are funny (according to Kyle) but not newsworthy.
 

So after discovering that two out of three papers for this class were to be written for hard news, I grumbled. A lot. However, the soft news story is upon us! And....I am panicked. For this story, we are to find something that is going on at 4pm at OU and interview the person/people/group and take pictures this week. It HAS to be at 4pm, and there are three classes involved in this project. I picked the "social gaming" group at OU and even got a contact! I emailed him this week to pick a day and....no answer. Then I emailed him again. Then I took Kyle's advice and went stalker and found him on Facebook and sent him a message. Nothing. Tomorrow is the last day and the only thing I can do is show up and hope he is there or else hope that someone else is willing to participate, I just have no idea if anyone will be there at exactly four. 

And so you see, this is a taste of what I have been dealing with all semester. Little mini-panic attacks. I have completed so much school-work at work this semester during my measly lunch break just because my source couldn't get back to me until the day my paper was due. 

With that being said, here is my "Reporter dress" from Ruche that I bought over a year ago. Becky was being awesome as usual and took these outfit pics for me right before we headed to the Oak Park library to study and steal internet. Good times.

Oh, Ohio.

So still playing catch-up. I am currently working on uploading pics from the Grand Rapids meet-up, along with scanning my homework and taking notes, multitasking is my specialty. You may have already seen most of these pics over at Lauren's blog, but I had never been to that part of Ohio, so I think a post of my own is in order.

Lauren's wedding is going to be held in Ohio, so I got to see a bunch of wedding details while I was there. I also got to partake in the food tasting, I think I almost died, I loooooove food! I don't think I was much help because I just kept saying that I loved EVERYTHING, but Lauren and Kevin made some great decisions. We also hit up some antique shops while we were out and it was so hard not to buy everything that I saw. Kyle was so bummed that he couldn't go but we are going to make sure he doesn't have to work next time.

The drive to Dayton took me about 3.5 hours and since I had homework to do I couldn't leave Friday night, I also had to be back for karaoke night on Saturday so that meant driving back the same day. It wasn't too bad though, I managed to make good time and got to the bowling alley around 10:40ish and even got to sing Weezer with Becky and Kyle. I also sang They Might Be Giants because it's mostly talking :P 

Needless to say I had a busy weekend, and I am hoping to have my post on the blogger meet-up posted tomorrow night, and if all goes well I should have the internet up and running Tuesday so I will be present again in the internet world.

Moving Day!

Only a week and a half later... Here are some photos from the end of moving day! All photos, including the detail shots were taken by the wonderful Becky (hence the reason why she is not in any of them). We all look exhausted because of the move, and Kyle and Dan had installed insulation during the day. Lauren also loaned Kevin out to us for a few hours which was awesome because Brian has a fractured wrist so it was nice not having to move the bulk of everything myself. 

As you can see, the place is a mess. However, we are slowly making progress. The next batch will be more organized :)

Little bits.

Here are some little-bits and pieces from last week:

This is my Kittie Mary, sitting in a shoe-box looking very sweet while I am frantically packing. Although this is a slightly blurry pic, it is a rare one. My cats are sweet and adorable, but run from the camera.

Kyle and Brian laying some insulation in our attic during a snow-storm last weekend. They still have a lot to go but our house is going to be nice and toasty.

What is this you may ask? Why it's my lovely backyard!! Of course you can see that we are missing part of the gate in the corner, so poor Louie cannot run around just yet, but as soon as the snow melts a little, we are putting that fence up and letting him loose. Oh and the tree to the right is dead and has to be torn down in the Spring, sadly. But the pretty pine tree is staying!

Oh and here is a little sibling love. The twins Brian and Kyle above, and me and David of the giant-cheeks Astley-Clan below. 

More house photos soon! Moving Day is Saturday so I am planning on taking some pics of all the fun, and I will take better pics of the house once I have everything organized.

Permanent Ink

Every once in awhile I get the urge to get a tattoo, but I have never been able to decide what I want. For others, they have been plotting the specific place where they want to permanently embellish their skin since playgroup.  The thing is, I fear my body will react strange, it happened with piercings so I am nervous about ink. However, some people I know have some pretty awesome tattoo's and I have pretty much made them show me their skin.

My best friend Jamie has the Serenity symbol tattooed on her back. Serenity is a Joss Whedon film that was created to sort of tied up the lose ends to the canceled show Firefly. Both Firefly and Serenity are epically amazing, seriously, it's like Star Wars meets Bonanza, but even better! Needless to say, Jamie has had a few comments on this tattoo and I fully support fan tattoos. I mean, if you really love something, then why not?

Mariah shows off her tattoo that she had done in memory of a loved one. I love that the tattoo is simple, yet obviously sends a strong message to whomever casts a glance at it.

Mark decided to go all out with his tattoos. The first is the anarchy symbol if you didn't  already know, and I personally find it less offensive than that damn creepy rabbit from Donnie Darko. Frank is a creepy guy, take a look for yourself:

And he willingly put this on his arm, I think just to taunt me and to scare the piss out of children and adults alike everywhere! Moving on.

Dan has the batman symbol tattooed on his arm and although it looks a tiny bit faded, there is no denying what that symbol is for. 

Now what would I get personally? If I were going for the fan-based tattoo, I would go for:
