Project Sweetheart

Sunday is project day and I am very excited to say that I have a few projects up my sleeve to post on here. I am excited for the feedback, and also to share a little more of what is going on in the world of Sara.

My first project is going to seem very lame considering all of the other, much more interesting ones that I am going to post in the weeks that follow, however this one is fun for me.  I am entering in chictopia's Forever Sweetheart contest. This will be the first contest on Chictopia that I will have entered and I am excited! It was fun picking out an outfit, I get quite a few things from Forever 21, so I had a few good items of clothing to work with.

I decided on this in the end. The weather probably had a big influence in my deciding factor, it is very, very cold in Michigan right now. I was alright in these pictures because the wind had died and the sun made it a little more tolerable. I decided to layer different patterns for this outfit. Kyle took these pictures for me and it was fun trying to pose for these. I typically take my own pictures, but they are always inside and do not come out as nice. Kyle takes the outside ones and I always feel a little sheepish trying to figure out a cute pose. Does anyone else have that problem?

I hope that you all are having a great weekend!!

Clothes on me

It is no secret to anyone that I love clothes, I always have, I just did not put as much effort into what I was wearing 100% of the time. I have never been one to favor brand-names either. I did have a little stint in my junior year of high school where I bought a ton of stuff from American Eagle Outfitters, but I have also gone through phases of hoodies and jeans on end for months. There was also the the time when I gained a lot of weight and felt like that I really couldn't wear anything pretty, or nice. I think now that I am a little older, and have a job that I can wear REAL clothes and not a uniform for once, I feel that I can really have fun with clothing now.

I have also come to realize that the simple feeling of looking nice can effect my day. Even if I don't go anywhere. However, picking out something cute to wear to work, or to school or even out to the grocery store is just fun. I look forward to picking out something to wear everyday, it makes the mundane things in life a little more fun for me.

Being creative with clothing and my outfits has helped me be creative and motivated with other aspects of my life. It has helped me out with my writing. I was at a complete standstill with writing, could not do anything. Then I decided to slowly post some outfits on this blog and realized how much fun I was having, being creative with outfits by mixing things I have had for a long time and never wore together, mixing old with new, it was another creative outlet for me. Somehow, I just got the creative part of my mind working again and now I am writing poems. Granted, they are different then what I have written in the past, but the point is that I am doing something.

Music & Cords

Details
Shirt-American Eagle
Sweater-Target
Cords-Old Navy
Boots-Sears Essentails
Belt-F21

There is something about cords that make me think of Gilmore Girls. I felt very Lorelei wearing this (and warm) but behold my crappy camera! Every pic comes out like this unless I use the flash-or if I am outside. Which is really inconvenient.

Well now we are onto the music post of the week and I thought that I would share some of my favorite movie soundtracks.

The first: City of Angles.

*Image from amazon.com

Who could not love this soundtrack? From Jimi Hendrix to Eric Clapton, and throw in some Alanis Moriessette and John Lee Hooker and you are set. I first got this on a cassette tape, way before I ever saw the film. I played it over, and over until it broke then forced myself to buy it on a CD, new, because I loved it so much. I only actually just saw the film about two years ago, 10 years after it had been out.

The second: Garden State

*Image from wordpress.com

I know this one is EVERYONE'S favorite but there is a reason for it. TWO songs by The Shins, one of my personal favorite Coldplay songs, "Let go" by Frou Frou? One of the best songs to listen to on a long car ride (in my experience ). The Cary Brothers-enough said. If for some strange reason you have not heard Zach Braff's genius in music form, you really need to.

Another soundtrack that I fell in love with before I saw the film, I did however get the chance to see this one last month (finally) and I love the film as much as the soundtrack I must say. The soundtrack grabbed my attention first when The Smiths were mentioned twice, which is awesome enough on it's own, but then She&Him covering The Smith's "please, please, please"? I had to check it out. I love Carli Bruni, Wolfmother and The Doves so I was sold. Also, one of my favorites by Simon and Garfunkel "Bookends”, short and sweet.

The Fourth: The Labyrinth

Okay, so this one maybe on here for shits and giggles, but David Bowie is awesome and if "Magic dance" doesn't make you want to jump around like a 5 year old, then "Chilly Down" might. My IPOD shuffle only holds about 100 songs and both of them are on it.

The Fifth: Away we go

So I actually did see this film before I fell in love with the soundtrack. Kyle bought the soundtrack from amazon almost right after we saw it, and I am very glad that he did. Alexi Murdoch is amazing. I love all of his songs on this soundtrack, but the key song on it for me is "Blue mind" by George Harrison. I listen to this soundtrack almost every time I sit down to study. It has enough relaxing, softer songs to calm my nerves but the lyrics and tone of the songs keep me alert, not put me to sleep.

So there you go, I highly recommend these. Or at least check out the artist's websites to see if you might like them.

The Clear and the Old

Happy Humpday! Sorry, I had too.
Now that that's out of the way, above is an outfit that I am very proud of because of my thriftiness. :D Everything was from the clearances rack at Target or the Salvation army.

I have reserved Wednesdays for the random so here is something random, and makes me feel old! I mentioned before that I still read Seventeen, so when the latest issue came, I read my usually and then discarded it on the floor by my bed as per usual. I was bored yesterday waiting for the BF to get home so I picked it up to read the feature on an actress named Taylor Momsen. Now I am not completely clueless, I have seen her picture before, but I had no clue on who she was. Turns out she is on the TV show Gossip Girl, and apparently sings. Cool beans. Then I read that she made her big break starring opposite Jim Carry in the film "How the Grinch stole Christmas..." THAT GIRL?! The little sweet Who from the movie I only just watched a month ago is this bombshell on the cover of the magazine I am reading?? Wow, do I feel old.

Then I decided to think back on a few other incidences that made me feel old. Cute little boy starring along Adam Sandler in the Film "Big Daddy"? Hello twins from "The suite life of Zack and Cody". (They are so big now!)

The biggest one to throw me off was this little, cute baby who unwarily showed off his junk to the world in infancy on the cover of Nirvana’s album nevermind.

Steady Freddie

I guess it would have made more sense for me to post my Sunday blog post on Sunday and not at 12am Monday night, but when you have two adults who work full time and are both in school, computer time is limited. So here is my first Monday update, I hope that you guys like it, (If you have any suggestions, things you would like to see on this blog, or taken off, or anything in general, please let me know!)
Here goes:

So last week I slacked a little on the school front. I barely started a poem and just submitted an old one for my workshop.

Also, I discovered that my online class is pretty easy, I barely read the work, just took notes on the PP slides and got a 90% on the quiz, which is good for me because I can focus more on my other classes but still makes me a little mad because it is a required course and the slides were basically copied from the reading, and there were a TON of typo's on the questions. I have no room to talk, I am the queen of misspellings, however, the fact that I am required to spend hundreds of dollars on this class and it seems that the instructor could care less, bothers me a little.

So the plan is for me to try to be finished with all of my school work by Friday night. I would like to spend my Sunday getting a head start on all the papers I have due and catching up on some reading. I am behind at work still, but work is boring so I just want to mention that I am trying to make a dent in the pile I have on my desk.

Just for a little weekend recap, Kyle his twin brother Brian and I took their nieces and nephew to a Pistons game as their Xmas present Friday night. It was pretty fun, although, I am so not ready for kids. Saturday Kyle and I went to the DSO (Detroit Symphony Orchestra) and grabbed a bite to eat at Jacoby's before hand. It was awesome! The music was beautiful, almost trance-like. We dressed up nice (hence yesterday's post) and went out to The Berkley Front with some friends after for a few drinks.

Sunday nights Kyle and I take turns dinning with each others parents to keep up with the Fam. Last night we ate at National Coney Island with his mom, brother and grandma. Then headed home for more homework.

So I will leave you guys with my to-do list for the week.

Nicole has been a consistent box office flop for several years now?

[gallery_main-1216_nicole_kidman_makeup_07.jpg]

Now, is it because of the frozen face, or because Nicole has been a consistent box office flop for several years now? Which came first, the chicken of the egg? Because I think the audience started to leave Nicole around the time she started doing that junk to her beautiful face.

[gallery_main-1216_nicole_kidman_makeup_00.jpg]
[gallery_main-1216_nicole_kidman_makeup_00.jpg]
I also did a little research to see if Nicole was actually attached to these projects at some point. At one point, this past fall, she was attached to Bel Ami (with Robert Pattinson), but ended up pulling out/being fired last November. Monte Carlo is a project Nicole was not only supposed to star in, but produce. And it’s still listed on Nicole’s IMDB page, so who knows? And as for the How To Marry a Millionaire remake, Nicole is still tentatively attached to that too, according to IMDB. But I hope that one doesn’t even get made. I love the original. How the f-ck could you do better than Marilyn, Lauren Bacall, and Betty Grable? Seriously?

[gallery_main-1216_nicole_kidman_makeup_06.jpg]

Blame it on the Botox? After bad reviews for her stiff performance in the flop musical Nine, Nicole Kidman has been dropped from three films: Bel Mai, Monte Carlo, and a remake of the Marilyn Monroe classic How to Marry a Millionaire.

“Nicole’s not aging gracefully, and it’s hurting her chances in Hollywood,” says Michael Levine of LCO, a public relations firm.

But it’s not all bad - Nicole is set to star in The Danish Girl, playing the first man to get a sex change operation.

Lion Heart Studios

I was supposed to post a few things today, but I have something wonderful to share with everyone. The talent of my friend Hassaun aka "Chocolate bear" (we watch a lot of Scrubs).
You may have noticed a little picture that I had added about a month ago to my blog:

Hassaun digitally painted this picture of Moi et Louie for me for X-mas. :) I think it is unique and awesome! He has a blog up for his art but it is a work in progress and is not up and running just yet. However, when I saw these, I could not resist but post something about them, and share them with everyone.

*Not sure if this next one is the correct picture, but you get the drift.

Hassaun's style varies, there are several different types of art he has created that I really enjoy, however, I did not ask him before I posted these and I feel that he would like to make the grand presentation of the rest of his art. However, I can't help but sneak in this last one because it is too sweet.

*More on these guys here

What do you guys think? Awesome no? =]
