There is something about cords that make me think of Gilmore Girls. I felt very Lorelei wearing this (and warm) but behold my crappy camera! Every pic comes out like this unless I use the flash-or if I am outside. Which is really inconvenient.

Well now we are onto the music post of the week and I thought that I would share some of my favorite movie soundtracks.

The first: City of Angles.

Who could not love this soundtrack? From Jimi Hendrix to Eric Clapton, and throw in some Alanis Moriessette and John Lee Hooker and you are set. I first got this on a cassette tape, way before I ever saw the film. I played it over, and over until it broke then forced myself to buy it on a CD, new, because I loved it so much. I only actually just saw the film about two years ago, 10 years after it had been out.

The second: Garden State

I know this one is EVERYONE'S favorite but there is a reason for it. TWO songs by The Shins, one of my personal favorite Coldplay songs, "Let go" by Frou Frou? One of the best songs to listen to on a long car ride (in my experience ). The Cary Brothers-enough said. If for some strange reason you have not heard Zach Braff's genius in music form, you really need to.

Another soundtrack that I fell in love with before I saw the film, I did however get the chance to see this one last month (finally) and I love the film as much as the soundtrack I must say. The soundtrack grabbed my attention first when The Smiths were mentioned twice, which is awesome enough on it's own, but then She&Him covering The Smith's "please, please, please"? I had to check it out. I love Carli Bruni, Wolfmother and The Doves so I was sold. Also, one of my favorites by Simon and Garfunkel "Bookends”, short and sweet.

The Fourth: The Labyrinth

Okay, so this one maybe on here for shits and giggles, but David Bowie is awesome and if "Magic dance" doesn't make you want to jump around like a 5 year old, then "Chilly Down" might. My IPOD shuffle only holds about 100 songs and both of them are on it.

The Fifth: Away we go

So I actually did see this film before I fell in love with the soundtrack. Kyle bought the soundtrack from amazon almost right after we saw it, and I am very glad that he did. Alexi Murdoch is amazing. I love all of his songs on this soundtrack, but the key song on it for me is "Blue mind" by George Harrison. I listen to this soundtrack almost every time I sit down to study. It has enough relaxing, softer songs to calm my nerves but the lyrics and tone of the songs keep me alert, not put me to sleep.

So there you go, I highly recommend these. Or at least check out the artist's websites to see if you might like them.
