Standing in the way of control

 

  

Today was Jury Duty...but not for me :) I did not get selected, which is for the best because both of the trials were during the week of finals. After we got out I went to the secretary of state and paid $45.00 to get my enhanced ID, fun, but they took a new picture for me, which is good because my current one is blond. After that I went shopping at Regeneration, a used clothing store in Pleasant Ridge, and I hope to be trying everything out by next week. I had some lunch with my little brother David and his friend, then went with my Mum to Payless and bought two pairs of shoes on clearance as well as some tights. 

This outfit was from yesterday, and the top is actually a pajama shirt lol. It has clouds all over it and I got it for like $2.00 at Target a few years ago. 

  

 

Well without any further ado, here is this weeks music feature: Gossip.

 Gossip (now without the "the") is a three-piece American rock band consisting of lead singer Beth Ditto, guitarist Brace Paine and drummer Hannah Blilie. The band first formed over ten years ago, but hit major success with their album "Standing in the way of control." I must admit that the title track "Standing in the way of control" was the first song that I heard by them, but I loved it and it has been on my Ipod shuffle ever since. Their sound has been described as "soul" or "gospel" but with a punk twist, experimental even. I love Beth's voice, it just strikes you from the beginning and is instantly recognizable after.  It has a sound that is both new and old and I am completely addicted.  Recently they released "Music For Men", this past June and are also going to be playing this year at Coachella. So for any of you luckies that are going this year, don't miss them! 

It is also important to point out that front woman Beth is very open about her looks and her sexuality. Which I give her kudos for big time, she looks amazing and stands up for herself and does not conform to the "image" that most industries are looking for. She is an inspiration to Women everywhere.
