The Celebrity Fashion Phenomenon

Celebrities have always fascinated us – with their inhumanly good looks, their juicy life stories, their lavish houses, their to-die-for cars…

But most of all, we love their clothes. Maybe because it’s the part of them we feel we can actually reach for. I mean, most of us can’t buy mansions in Beverly Hills or a new sports car every month, but we can buy clothes, right?

In fact, we have grown to love celebrity clothes so much that sometimes, celebrities become better known for their clothes than for anything else. Every fashion designer dreams of being worn by a star on award nights, despite the fact that in 24 hours or less, cheap copies of their precious creations will be peddled all over the place.

And we buy them up – yes, we do – because we believe that if we wear the clothes our idols wear, we will look as good as our idols look.

But there are a few downsides to dressing like a celebrity: First of all, while you may be able to get away with any clothing style in your teenage years, your celebrity clothes might not suit you quite as well as you move on to your 20s, 30s, etc., etc.

Second, your favorite celebrity is probably also the favorite celebrity of about three million other people in the world, and you all may well end up looking like semi-clones.

Finally, celebrity clothing costs a lot. In other words, when you decide to emulate celebrity fashion, do so with caution. Stay aware of what fits your own body shape and lifestyle. Remember: what looks good on a celebrity is one thing. What looks good on you may be quite something else.
