I am on a mission to bring the hoodie back to the blogoshpere, if it ever was here to begin with. I went through a phase where that was pretty much all I wore. I had a lot of phases actually.
When I was little, I wore all of my cousins hand-me-downs, so I wore a lot of bugleboy clothes. Then there was the grunge stage in the mid nineties where I would wear combat boots, spaghetti strap tanks or t-shirts with a huge flannel over it and flare jeans. This was followed by the 'raid the attic' stage where I pretty much wore anything of my Mothers that would fit me. Favorites included the "sock skirt" which was floor-length and had different shades of grey stripes around it. Bell-bottoms which were really too big for me so I wore them with a giant thick belt all of the time. The fuchsia Reebok track suit, the brown and orange stripped hooded top, these I would mix it up with my 'dork gear' aka anything from the Old Navy Outlet store and my X-files T-shirts.
High School was a giant mix. I wore 'peddle-pushers" as my mom called them, a ton of t-shirts and flannels. Then my mom got a really good job and basically took me on a shopping spree in 11th grade, all of my clothes from that year were from American Eagle. I had a ridiculous amount of stripped collar shirts and cords, I looked very 70's. Senior year I pretty much became lazy and really sporty at the same time. I wore my hair in a bandanna, ribbed tank-tops and hoodies all the time. That pretty much stayed the same until a few years ago when I finally lost weight. I had hoodies from everywhere from the Salvation Army to Victoria's Secret. I lived in them.
I kind of stopped wearing them the past two years because I associated hoodies with being frumpy, but now I want to incorporate them back into the daily outfits. I received this one from Erin when she moved last week and it is so soft and cozy! It is cashmere. I have never owned anything cashmere and now I own a cashmere hoodie! It is kind of super awesome and I think everyone should have one. Seriously.
I guess I could have taken a picture in a less hideous part of the parking lot...poop. I am so ready for Christmas guys!! I am sneaking out to get Kyle's gift this week and I am going to be wrapping and finishing up presents tonight! I have to make a trip to the post office after work, I know it is going to be crazy but I feel so Christmasy that I don't even care. I want nothing more than to wrap up in an ugly sweater and sip hot-coco with Kyle on the couch and watch cheesy Christmas movies!
This is my last styling of the orange tunic from Lauren for Here to There! To keep up with Here to There style, be a fan on facebook :) Check out the other two ways I have worn this, and my favorite way Lauren has worn it:
